My Story
Mike grew up in Eastern Connecticut. As an underweight and awkward teenager, Mike found confidence through weightlifting. At 18, he left home to study biochemistry at Northeastern University where he was on the powerlifting team. Life changed course when hip and low back injuries prevented him from training and competing. Discouraged, Mike turned his focus to understanding his injuries and overcoming his limitations. He changed his course of study to kinesiology (movement science) and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Connecticut in 2012. At UConn, Mike served as an undergraduate assistant strength and conditioning coach and an undergraduate research assistant in the Human Performance Lab. Mike stayed at UConn to earn his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2016.
Upon finishing graduate school, Mike left Eastern Connecticut to pursue advanced training in manual physical therapy. He completed his fellowship in manual physical therapy (FAAOMPT) with the Manual Therapy Institute in Round Rock, Texas from 2017-2020. Afterward, Mike returned to Eastern Connecticut where he has focused on refining his skill in orthopedic and manual physical therapy. Mike became Certified in Dry Needling in 2021. He was recognized as a Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) in 2022. In 2025, Mike became the first physical therapist in Connecticut to achieve the Registered in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (RMSK) credential.
Mike continues to remain active in numerous physical disciplines, including weightlifting, rock climbing, calisthenics (bodyweight exercise), and yoga.
